How long is the class?

We offer a Blended Learning CPR course designed for maximum convenience and retention. A Blended course means you must complete two separate, mandatory components:

1. Online Component (The Prerequisite)

The online class is a series of videos and knowledge checks that you complete on your own schedule and at your own pace.

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 1-2 hours.
  • Action: You will receive a link to the Red Cross training portal immediately after registration.
  • Critical Requirement: This must be completed BEFORE you can attend the In-Person Skills Session.

2. In-Person Skills Session

Once the online portion of the class has been completed, this session is your opportunity for hands-on, practical experience, led by our certified instructor, Sean Rowan.

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 1-2 hours.
  • Action: You put the knowledge you gained in the online class to practice.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULING NOTE

The Online Component is a strict requirement for certification and for entry into the in-person class.

If the online portion is not completed prior to your scheduled In-Person Session, we will be required to reschedule your class. Please plan your time to ensure the online work is finished beforehand.

When can I expect to receive my certificate once completing the course?

Certificates are usually available within 48 hours through your Red Cross account online once you pass the course. You will also get an email with a link to view, download, or print your certificate.

Will I really be certified in CPR/Lifesaving skills?

Yes! Our certifications are recognized by the State of Georgia and are done in conjunction with the Red Cross

Why is 12 the minimum age to be certified?

While there is no strict minimum age in Georgia to become CPR certified, twelve is a good age because its when many children can physically perform compressions on a manikin, as well as have the cognitive learning ability to learn and retain the steps for emergency situations. Starting at this age helps build confidence and a habit of preparedness.

Do I need to be CPR certified in order to administer CPR in an emergency situation?

No, just do your best if you find yourself in an emergency situation. As long as you act in good faith and without gross negligence, the Good Samaritan law will protect those who provide emergency assistance, including CPR.

What should I wear to the class?

Something comfortable and practical that allows you to move freely and kneel on the floor

How often do I need to recertify myself?

Georgia requires your CPR certification to be renewed every 2 years. One Family Pediatrics offers renewal courses to help you stay compliant and ready!
